That being said, I'm choosing these products for their security, not their ease of use, and LastPass has been rock solid. The Chrome extension alone has at least three entirely different screens called settings or options. They have been doing a lot recently to make things more user friendly, but there are still cases where the UI is pretty janky and confusing. They're making money.Īs far as switching, I can't give you a good answer, but I have been a LastPass user for my personal things for a long time, and pushed hard at work to migrate to LastPass for our password needs at work because of how much I like and trust the product.

It's true they have a free tier, but this isn't a situation where something is free and they're hoping to figure out how to make money later. If you're referring to LastPass there, their business model is business and enterprise licenses. I have to say, one thing that is really disconcerting is that their business model is to now have a completely free product, which makes me wonder how they plan to generate revenue from their customers that aren't paying anything.

What will I gain by switching, and what will I lose? I already use Dropbox as my 1Password storage, so keeping my passwords online doesn't really bother me that much. Since it's mostly browser based, it should work mostly anywhere. This is something that looks really appealing about Lastpass. I use an Android and Windows Phone, have a Mac, use Linux regularly, and have an iPad. Though I mainly use Windows, I'd like to keep things really cross-platform. Should I make the switch? I'm pretty heavily invested in 1Password, so I'd like to make sure it's the right decision before I go through all the effort of exporting my data, then massaging it just right to get it into Lastpass. I'm asking here instead of the Windows forum because there are more users of 1Password on Mac, so I don't think I'll get a really good number of responses there. So, I'm considering a switch to Lastpass. Their Windows 10 app is ok, but I don't think it will work with my current licence, and I can't seem to find a way to generate new passwords. I am mostly a Windows user, though, and their Win32 app looks ugly as sin (it functions just fine though). This is also kind of stupid, but I like that they are from the same city as me.

Really love their customer support, and the overall ease of use.

I paid full price years back, and got a few major version upgrades for free. I've been a very happy 1Password user for years now.
